We offer a range of location-based filming services, as well as a roster of outstanding practising filmmakers to call on for studio projects.
PROGRAMME OF LOCATION MUSIC VIDEOS
We produced 9 Music Videos produced and promoted in 1 month (May 2015), leading to over 10,000 views of the artists’ videos in advance of their live performance at the festival. We organised all practical elements from arranging the room and time slots in both a disused courtyard and a busy club venue, through filming and editing, audio capture and mastering to publishing and social networking of the releases to target audiences, in partnership with Hidden Door festival.
A transcript of the event copy from Hidden Door 2014:
DECAGRAM curated, produced and promoted a live feature-length 20-act audiovisual collaboration for Hidden Door III, with 10 music acts, 10 moving image makers, collaborate simultaneously across two of the amazing arches of the venue site in Market Street.
The bill of highly contrasting music artists will collaborate at the transitions between sets, creating a seamless three hours of music. The visuals bill is equally diverse, moving through short film, animation, improvised visuals, motion graphics and projection mapping. + Read more
For audio, this involved creating a link-up between mixing desks in two vaults separated by the festival’s bar, enabling sound from both stages to be monitored for the artists as well as broadcast through the front of house PA in both spaces. For video, managed by Robert Motoyka, a visual monitor was used, allowing each band to see the other performing in the other venue. The screens used for this doubled as part of the visual experience, standing below the screen showing contributing filmmakers, and visuals were mixed into the live performance footage.
For promotion we produced and distributed 500 3-fold lino printed programmes in two colours, and a set of A0 posters. Both were designed by Ben Richards (The Phantom Lantern). The design can be seen here, together with information about the participating artists.
DECAGRAM co-produced UNFORESEEN, an adventurous, multidiscipline collaboration between musicians, artists, academics and audience, where everyone became part of the art. The run took place over 4 consecutive days of the Hidden Door Festival 2015. The content and structure of each day was informed and shaped by the outcomes of the preceding day.
Kat Dlugosz of DECAGRAM interviewed and filmed the resident artists and others involved in the production immediately after the final session, capturing the energy of an event where barriers between performer, medium and audience were questioned, and the nature and context of collaboration, inspiration, and creative methods explored.
